Update Aug 2020

Hello, Cadets and Parents.

It’s been a while since we have seen each other in person. I hope you’ve all had a great summer and enjoyed your time off.

At this time Cadets will not resume in person until October 1st at the earliest. The officers and Squadron  Sponsor Committee will take the month of September to prepare for a safe return to cadets.  This will include:

  • Working with and following all Public Health Authorities, Town of Indian Head,  Department of National Defence and the Air Cadet League of Canada’s,  rules and guidelines for COVID-19.
  • Provide a safe environment for all Cadets and Staff through:
    • The use of non medical masks for all cadets activities.
    • Proper hand washing and use of sanitizer.
    • Cleaning equipment and facilities between uses.
    • No overnight training or trips.
    • Contact tracing via our cadet attendance system.
    • Limiting access to the Memorial Hall to only Cadets, Officer and civilian staff during cadet activities.
    • Delayed start to the in person training year, no earlier than Oct. 1, 2020.
    • Starting virtual parade nights, starting Sept. 14, 2020.
    • No International travel till at least Aug 2021 and no travel farther than 1 hour outside of Indian Head.

This year will be a very different Cadet training year. We don’t have any firm answers on the status of summer training or scholarships for 2021.

We have new field training uniforms being ordered this year. These new uniforms will allow us to be more flexible in the future,  during field training and weekly parades, plus they look very cool. Please take time to submit your measurements on the Google form explained on the web site before Aug 25. 2020. This will help me order the proper sizes of uniforms. If you don’t submit your measurements I can’t guarantee I will have a uniform to fit you.

Please check the website 691hawk.ca and the FaceBook group regularly for updates and information.

The officers, staff and SSC are looking forward to seeing you in the near future.

Captain  Trent Walton.
