Q: Who can join the Air Cadets?
A: The Royal Canadian Air Cadets as a national program for youth between the ages of 12 to 19. Youth can join on or after their 12 birthday. We accept registrations throughout the year.
Q: How do I join cadets?
A: 691 Hawk Squadron meets on Monday nights at the Memorial Hall in Indian Head Sask @6:45 PM. Please bring your Health Card and Birth Certificate.
Q: How soon do I get a uniform.
A: We aim to outfit every cadet as soon as possible, usually within a few weeks. But we have limited space to store a huge amount of extra supplies, so often uniform parts need to be ordered. We supply a blue cadet t-shirt so the new cadets can blend in and join the team.
Q: How much does the program cost?
A: The cadet program is offered free of enrollment and user fees. The cadets are provided with a uniform and equipment required to participate in the program. There is fundraising activities that are conducted during the year to raise the money needed to run the program.
Q: What days do we meet?
A: 691 squadron meets Monday evening 6:45 pm to 9:15 pm at the Memorial Hall in Indian Head. Sept to June.
Q: Are there weekend and optional activities?
A: Yes. We offer a wide range of weekend and optional activities to keep the cadets busy. We have sports like curling, volleyball and downhill skiing, wilderness survival camping, map and compass training. Aviation based training like gliding and ground school.
Q: What are the parents of the cadets responsible for?
A: Parents are encouraged to participate in the local Parent Support Group (PSG). They help to raise funds and support the cadets in their activities. They meet monthly to discuss the squadron business.
