691 Annual Mess Dinner

We will be hosting our Annual Mess Dinner Dec, 18 2017 at the Memorial Hall. This is a formal Air Force Mess Dinner in full dress uniform. We are having  a guest speaker. This will be a 3 course served meal. Please sign up online before Dec. 11 so we can finalize  the numbers with the caterer .

Cadets will dress in full uniform and wear a white collar shirt with bow ties. The PSG will supply the bow ties to the Cadets.

Parent helper are needed to help serve and work the dinner please contact Melanie Ackerman  to volunteer.  See her post on the Facebook group to sign up.

Ground School

Ground school on Dec. 17  will be VIA the Webex, The HALL WILL NOT BE OPEN. The Remainder of the ground school sessions are WebEx only.

If you miss a ground school session, it is up to you to cover the material missed. We will not be going over the material again.

The ground school exams will be taken locally in early January. Make sure your studying to ensure you are prepared.


Flying and Gliding Exam

Eligible cadet who are planning to apply for the flying or gliding scholarship in 2018 will take a entrance exam the first week of January 208.  This exam will be administered locally during a parade night.

Cadets planning to apply for the gliding must be 16 yrs old by Sept 1, 2018 and completed training level 3. Power flying applicants must be 17 yrs old Sept 1 2018 and completed training level 4.

Any cadet that is chosen to apply must have high school transcripts, meet the minimum medical standard and must not exceed the weight or height restrictions for  respective courses.

Promotions and Gift Exchange

Cadets will be promoted after the mess dinner on Dec 18. Family’s are encouraged to attend to watch the promotions.

Cadets will also participate in a (optional) gift exchange after promotions on Dec. 18, Coffee and desert will be served for the parents.  Details around to gift exchange will be posted next week.

Gift Exchange Details

  • Cadets wishing to participate should check the box on the mess dinner registration page of our website. Participating cadets are to purchase a present to the value of $10. These should be wrapped as one gift so as to keep any parts together. On the night, cadets bring the gifts to our mess dinner. Gifts will be placed on a table for display and numbered. Cadets will then select a number from a hat and that present is then theirs. The presents should be displayed before supper and we will select numbers and distribute after supper. They can be opened all at once at the end of the night and wrapping paper can be collected and disposed of before cadets depart for home that night.

Summer Training Camps 2018

Summer training information was given to the cadets last week. Summer camp choices are due back to the CO no later than Dec 18 2017. You have 2 options for submitting a camp choice.

  1. Fill out the form supplied to you on Nov 27 and return it to the office

Ski Day

We are planning a ski day at Mission Ridge during the Christmas break if we get some snow. More details to follow.


Volleyball in Regina

We will be attending a Volleyball tournament in Regina in late January. More details to follow.
