WHAT DOES IT COST FOR MY CHILD TO BE AN AIR CADET WITH 691?
There are no direct fees charged to the cadet or parent for weekly or mandatory event. Nor do we charge for uniforms.
We do charge for the Spring trip and in order to ensure that those attending the trip “buy-in” without making the cost prohibitive the Parent support Group has set up the following option:
Ways to reduce cost of trip:
In an effort to offset the financial hardship of the trip, cadets and parents will receive credits for volunteer time.
Parents:
You will receive 10 points for each meeting you attend of the Parent Support Group – there are 10 meetings a year and therefore the opportunity to reduce the cost of your Cadet’s trip by $100.00 if you attend all the meetings.
Plus if you attend you will be in the know – there is always lots happening in Cadets and this will allow you to know what is happening and all the details.
These points will be retroactive from the September meeting to present for those who attended.
If you are a member of the Parent Support Group Board of Directors or an officer or staff member in addition to the $10.00 per meeting you attend we will give you a 20 point bonus
Volunteer for events and activities:
Another great reason to attend the Parent Support Group Meetings – the sign up sheets for upcoming events will first be available at the meetings – by attending the meetings you will have first option of what you would like to volunteer for.
For every hour you volunteer for an event each parent will receive 5 points per hour – 2 parents volunteer for 3 hours and reduce your cost by $30.00
Volunteer activities for parents include:
Mess Dinner
Saskadet
Effective Speaking
Paint Night
Range Day
Volleyball
Spring Fundraiser
End of Year Bar-b-que
Donate a silent auction item for the Spaghetti Dinner – 5 points
Cadets are expected to volunteer as well:
Attendance at Cadets – 2 points per meeting
Volunteer Activities:
Parade – 5 points
Remembrance Day – 2 points for attending – bonus 2 point each if parents attended
Other events – for example harvest hoedown – 5 points
Selling Tickets:
Sell for Spaghetti Supper – 5 points per book
Car Raffle – 5 points per book
Almonds – 5 points per case
Attendance at any event other than Parade nights:
2 Points per event
Examples:
Park Cleanup
Gliding
Range/Uniforms
Volleyball
Skiing
Saskadet
Family Day
Mudroller
- Maximum credit for 2018 trip is $200.00 credit per child – this would reduce the cost to cadets from $300.00 to $100.00 each
