Saskadet – March 6-8, 2020

Our Field Training Exercise is coming up on March 6-8. Please mark your calendars to ensure you are available for this weekend as it as mandatory. You must attend to pass your level.

Please ensure you contact us via the website or by calling in to let us know if you are unavailable so you can be marked excused.

Drop off at Memorial Hall on Friday, 6 March at 16:45 (4:45 PM) for a 17:00 (5PM) departure. We expect to be back by 16:00 (4PM) Sunday 8 March.

We plan to be outside for the majority of the weekend so please ensure to dress warm. See the attached kit list and permission form.

Uniforms

If you are returning uniform parts for any reason, please ensure to bring them back washed. Your uniform does not have to be dry-cleaned, just a regular wash in your washing machine will do.
Ensure you are washing your uniform weekly to ensure it stays fresh and clean.

We have had some badges handed out over the course of the year and some cadets do not have them sewn on yet, or sewn on in the correct place. Please check your handbook if you are unsure of where to sew it on.

Volunteer Hours – Legion Medal of Excellence

If you have done any volunteer work from September until now please email us with the details. We are able to nominate one cadet for the Legion Medal of Excellence and this is part of the criteria.

As we need to submit our application to the Legion, we require your volunteer details to be sent to us by 10 March, 2020.

If you have any questions please see an officer.

“The Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence (RCLCME) recognizes individual endeavours of a citizenship nature, which meet or enhance the purposes and objectives of the Cadet organizations. It is wholly sponsored and awarded by the Royal Canadian Legion.”

Code of Conduct Forms

The Cadet Program has established a revised code of conduct. As such, all cadets and parents are required to sign this form. They were sent out on 4 November.

There are still two code of conduct forms outstanding.

These were due 18 November. Please bring them back on Monday. If you need another copy please see 2Lt Drew.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to an officer.

Marksmanship

In an attempt to offer a better marksmanship program, we have joined up with 41 Hercules RCACS in Regina. They hold practice on Sunday afternoons from 12:00-15:00/16:00. (12:00 PM- 3:00/4:00 PM) every week.

Beginning on 15 March, 2020 all 691 cadets have an open invitation to join the practice shoot in Regina. Practice is held at the Regina Armoury (1600 Elphinstone St). You will have to arrange your own transportation to the Armoury.

If you decide you would like to participate in this activity, please contact 2Lt Drew via phone call, text, or email by 11:45 AM the day of the activity to ensure you can get into the building. 2Lt Drew’s contact information is in your cadet handbook.

Details will be posted each week for the following Sunday.

This decision was made due to having eight cadets interested and signed up for marksmanship and only two show up last time we held it at the hall.
