Mr. Quinton Bagamery will be working with our unit as a Civilian Instructor. He is a former 703 Cadet and has some experience with other units around the province. He will primarily be working as a curriculum instructor.

Code of Conduct Forms
The Cadet Program has established a revised code of conduct. As such, all cadets and parents are required to sign this form. They will be sent out on 4 November and will be expected back on 18 November.

Level 5 Workshop
Those level 5’s signed up for the Level 5 Training Weekend (29 Nov-1 Dec) need to bring back their Offers of Participation this week!
The dress for the weekend is C3C. (Tunic with blue dress shirt with the collar over the tunic collar. No ties.) The kit list for the weekend is in your Joining Instructions. If you don’t have a copy, See 2Lt Drew on Monday night or see below.
Make sure your hair meets the standard and you get haircuts if required. Remember, you are not just there for yourself, you are also representing 691 Hawk Squadron while you are there.
Please arrive at Memorial hall on Friday 29 November, 2019 by 19:45 (7:45 PM) for a 20:00 (8:00 PM) departure.
The bus will drop everyone off on Sunday 1 December at approximately 15:15 (3:15 PM).
Wine Survivor Fundraiser
This is another major fundraiser for our Easter 2021 Europe Trip. If you plan on attending the trip, you are expected to participate in the fundraisers.
Tickets need to be purchased by Friday evening. (29 November). Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Jacene Dickson.
Christmas Party – 23 December
As it is so close to Christmas, this will be an evening of fun activities planned by the Level 3 Cadets.
If you are available please join us for the evening and remember to call in if you’re unavailable so we can mark you as excused.
There will be a gift exchange so please bring a gift ($10 limit) if you wish to participate.
Mess Dinner-Next Week! (2 December)
Next week, 2 December, is Mess Dinner! Mess Dinner is a traditional, formal dinner within the Canadian Forces. There is a PMC (President of the Mess Committee) and a Vice PMC (Vice President of the Mess Committee). Traditionally with the cadets, the PMC is usually an officer and the Vice PMC is the highest ranking Cadet. (unless otherwise elected) For this dinner, we have decided to have the cadets elect their Vice PMC
The PMC is in charge of running the evening, introducing the head table, review the expectations for the evening (ie manners, fire procedures, etc), ensuring the night is running smoothly and on time, and also is typically in charge of paying the piper for the evening. The Vice PMC is typically in charge of sorting out any infractions and is the first point of contact for the cadets. The cadets are to use proper manners and table etiquette and if they notice someone near them is not, they can stand up and address the Vice PMC to notify them of the infraction. The Vice PMC then decides the repercussion of the infraction. For example, if a cadet gets called out for having their elbows are on the table, the Vice PMC may have them sing a song for the squadron or turn their chair around and sit facing outwards for 5 minutes, etc. The evening starts with a social and sometimes”cocktails” (juice or punch as cadets) are served while everyone arrives. If there is a piper, (s)he will play a short tune to gather everyone’s attention to give 15-minute and 5-minute warning and finally one last tune for a call to dinner. After the final call, everyone, excluding the head table is to find their seats and stand behind them. Once everyone has found their seat, the piper will pipe in the head table. Once everyone is seated the evening will begin with the PMC’s introductions, the Missing Aviator Ceremony, followed by the Airman’s Grace. Once those have been completed, dinner will be served. After dinner and dessert, there will be a Passing of the Port (grape juice). During the Passing of the Port, the decanters are not to touch the table. (Every element does this differently, but for the Air element, it signifies an aircraft in flight and therefore, should not be grounded before it reaches the end of the table.) Once the port has been poured, we will then proceed with the Loyal Toast, or Toast to the Queen in both English and French. After that the PMC will recognize the kitchen staff, servers and toast to the Chief Cook. Following all toasts, the CO and/or special guests may present a speech to wrap up the Evening. Awards and Promotions may also conclude the evening.
A mess dinner is meant to be entertaining, a good time to get to know your fellow teammates that you may not know so well, and to increase Esprit de Corps.
The dress will be C-8 (tunic, white shirt, and bow tie. No name tags.) If you do not have a bow tie, we can provide one for you. If you do not have a white button up shirt, please wear your blue button up shirt and regular tie. Do not eat dinner before you come as it will be served this evening.
National Camp Applications
National summer camp applications are due back by 2 December. You must also include a copy of your current school marks by this date as well in order to be considered for the course you are applying for.

2021 Easter Trip

Ground School
Ground school is open to all cadets who are interested in taking the gliding or power flying exams in early January 2020.
Ground School will be held on Sunday, 24 November, 2019. The class will be held at the Regina Armoury (1600 Elphinstone) from 18:00- 21:00 (6PM-9PM)
Please let Captain Walton know if you are attending ground school as there is paper work that needs to be completed.
